Holidays and city bosses

Death Valley keeps its own calendar of feasts and horrors. The Event Calendar shows what is on and what is coming. Daily event claims reset at midnight.

The holidays

• The Verdant Plague (March 10 to 20): a green blight in the hunting grounds doubles hunting gold and boosts Blood from kills by half. Claim a free Plague Vigor potion each day; drink it on 8 days for the Blightwalker title.
• The Resurrection Rites (the day before Easter to a week after): seven Ritual Fragments are hidden across the four wards each day. The event page tells you where; hunt there to pick them up, and claim a reward for 3, 5 or all 7. Find all seven on seven nights to become a Resurrectionist.
• Blood Moon Festival (June 20 to July 4): Blood from Arena wins is boosted by half, and 50, 100 and 150 wins each award AP. Claim a free Frenzy each day (+30% crit for 20 battles). Win 200 for the Bloodsworn title.
• The Reaping (September 15 to 30): every hunting kill counts toward milestone rewards. Reach 5,000 kills to become the Reaper.
• The Pumpkin King (October): Trick or Treat once a day for a chance at Actions, AP, Premium days, a rare familiar or a title, or a nasty trick. Do it 20 times for the Hallowed title.
• The Grand Feast (November 20 to 30): covens race for Feast Points from Arena wins and hunting gold. The winning coven earns 1,000 Devotion and its scoring members the Feast Host title. Claim the daily feast for Actions and gold; 8 claims make you a Glutton. Mrs Lovett's pie shop on Fleet Street opens only for the Feast.
• The Crimson Yule (December): a gift each day under the blood-red tree, richer every night up to the Elder's Gift on Christmas, then a small parcel each night until the year ends.

Some festival claims can also turn up a rare dye or a holiday bag. See Wardrobe and dyes.

Colossi and moon horrors

Once a year each holiday sends a colossus stomping through the Market, and on each named moon (new, first quarter, full and last quarter) a moon horror prowls the Wilds for about three days. Find them on the city map and on the boss page.

The whole city shares one health bar. Every vampire can swing, usually for 2 Actions a swing, up to 10 swings a night at each boss. Your blow is your hunting hit, and no single swing takes more than 4% of its health, so a level 1 and a level 500 both matter. Each boss fights differently; read its card before you swing.

The colossi:
• The Spun-Sugar Colossus (The Pumpkin King): Sugarbane
• The Harvest Scarecrow (The Grand Feast): Strawburner
• Black Krampus (The Crimson Yule): Krampus-Breaker
• The Bloom Behemoth (The Verdant Plague): Spore-Scourge
• The Thrice-Buried (The Resurrection Rites): Last Rites
• The Red Moon Wyrm (Blood Moon Festival): Wyrmfall
• The Grim Thresher (The Reaping): Tithe-Breaker

The moon horrors are The Lightless (new moon), The Waxing Hunger (first quarter), The Moonmad (full moon) and The Waning Wraith (last quarter). Each leaves a moon trophy; collect all four for the Moonbound title. Felling one also gives you a Moon-blessing for your next Blood Communion under that moon (see Familiars).

Rewards

When a boss falls, everyone who landed a blow gets its title or Lair trophy, Sovereign's Ichor (more for a bigger share of the damage), and a chance at Tempering Oil or an essence. Colossi can also drop the rare 26-slot Colossus-hide Bag. Vampires of level 300 or more have a chance at a Nightmare Sovereign recipe (see Gear). Your first swing each night can also find a rare dye.
