Games Like Reign of Blood

Reign of Blood is a long-running free vampire browser game. If you enjoy it, or want something in the same spirit, here is what to look for in another vampire game and how Vampire Genesis compares. A note up front: we make Vampire Genesis, so weigh our view accordingly.

What Reign of Blood is

According to its website, Reign of Blood is a free, text-based vampire RPG played in the browser, running since 2006 without resets. Players fight other vampires, join covens, take on quests and roleplay, and the game is developed independently by its creator.

So a game "like Reign of Blood" is a free, persistent vampire browser game with PvP, covens and a long-term community.

What to look for

• Persistence: no resets, so your progress lasts.
• Covens or clans: a group to belong to and fight for.
• PvP: real rivals, not just monsters.
• Active development: recent updates and events.
• Fair monetization: a game where money can't buy power.

Vampire Genesis

Vampire Genesis shares those roots. It is a free vampire PBBG with no resets, coven warfare and PvP, from a line of vampire browser games that began with Vampire Freaks: The Game in 2004. Where it differs:

• A city you can see. Death Valley is a pixel-art city map with its own clock and weather; covens fight territory wars for five of its eight districts.
• Familiars. Catch, raise, breed and battle over 160 creatures in turn-based arena fights.
• Expeditions. Plan a hunt across four wild wards and choose how to fight each beast.
• Homes and crafting. Own a room or a mansion, and craft gear in professions that rely on each other.
• Cosmetic-only premium. The game never sells gold, Actions or gear.
