FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What are Actions? How do I get them?Actions (once called turns) are spent on almost everything: hunting, the Arena, dredging, the Ossuary, boss swings and some Parlour games. Every vampire regains one every 3 minutes (10 each half hour), Premium or not, up to a cap of 500. Bonus Actions from votes, the Question of the Day, events and rewards that would go over the cap are kept in your Reserve, and you can draw up to 500 a day from it.
I fell. What now?
Every half hour the Revival restores every vampire to full Lifeforce for free; the header counts down to it. If you can't wait, the Midnight Clinic heals you for gold, and some covens pay part of the bill.
What do the stats do?
There are four. Stamina is your Lifeforce, Strength your damage, Agility your speed and dodging, and Endurance how much of each blow you turn aside. They work against each other, so keep all four up. See Statistics.
Can I reset my stats?
A Pink Vial resets all four stats and gives the points back as AP, if you still have one. Vampires who built under the old combat rules also get one free reset on the Apply AP page.
Why am I being attacked?
Because another vampire wants your Blood and the gold you carry. Any vampire can challenge you, whatever their level, but the warden-engines protect you just after a fight, in your first nights, from the same attacker more than once every 2 hours, for 6 hours after they beat you, and after three lost fights in six hours. Vampires under level 50, or far below the attacker's level, lose no gold. Keep your gold in the bank. See The Arena.
What is a coven?
A family of vampires who share a treasury and a bank, chat and plan together, fight coven wars and hold districts of Death Valley. See Covens.
How do I manage my friends?
Go to a vampire's profile and choose Add friend. Manage your friends and top friends on myVG.
What does the number next to a name mean?
It is the vampire's ID number. It identifies them even if they change their name, and it can't be changed.
What does my age mean?
It counts the nights since you joined. Your profile shows each night as a year.
Can I have more than one account?
No. Each extra account is a multi and will be jailed (see the Rules). If more than one player shares your connection, tell a member of staff first.
When does my Premium arrive?
Your Premium vial arrives in your Vials list within a few minutes of payment. Open it to add the days and Blood Opals. If it hasn't arrived, contact staff.
Can I get Premium without paying?
Yes: buy a Yellow Vial from another player on the Market with gold. See Premium and Blood Opals.
Why do some vampires have coloured names?
Staff have their own colours (see Staff). Players can buy a custom name colour with Blood Opals in the Opal Shop, and the Platinum Vial includes one.
What are vials?
Single-use flasks. Premium vials hold Premium days and Blood Opals; others are brewed at the Vial Workshop. See the Vial List.
I've been jailed. What can I do?
Jail is only used for breaking the rules. You can send one appeal at a time from the jail screen, and staff will answer it. After a refusal you must wait seven days to appeal again.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, under Account. Your vampire is removed from play and your personal details are wiped.
Where can I ask for help?
Ask in the Red Room, post on the Help Board in the Forums, or mail a member of staff.
